EI - Winning community and government planning consent for energy projects
14/04/2010
More energy. Lower emissions. Whether you believe the answer to be wind turbines, nuclear power stations, LNG import terminals, Carbon Capture and Storage, clean coal – or a combination of all the above – the solutions are going to need to be sited somewhere. Most people around the world want clean, safe and reliable energy but they do not always want the infrastructure that is needed to deliver this next to their homes. Engineers will be able to identify their preferred locations based on the parameters required for each technology. However, this presentation will examine how, before the engineers can get to work, energy companies are going to have to win the formal consent of government planning authorities, and the informal consent – and ideally active support – of nearby communities.
