The Society for the Environment is a new and rapidly developing organisation. Since our launch in October 2002 we have already become the leading representative body for environmental professionals in the UK.
The idea grew out of discussions in the early 1990s between leading organisations in the environment sector. They identified the need for a strong independent body to champion and regulate the expertise of today’s environmental professionals. Since receiving our Royal Charter in 2004, the Society’s member bodies have awarded the new Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) qualification.
In June 2008, SocEnv recognised its 5000th Chartered Environmentalist.
