Who's Who

John Gregory, Chairman. 

John was formerly the Chair of the Registration Authority, Chair of the Management Committee and Vice Chair of SocEnv for the last 2 years.   

John’s professional background is in fisheries science and he is a fellow and Vice-President of the Institute of Fisheries Management where he has been instrumental in developing its conferences, communications and CPD scheme.   He has worked in fisheries in the UK and overseas for more than thirty years and is currently working for Environment Agency Wales in Cardiff. 

John Carstensen started his new role in August 2009, has 25 years' experience working on environmental issues, climate change and sustainable development.  He joins us from INTRAC, the international research and training organisation for NGOs, where he was chief operating officer. 

Previously he has worked at the United Nations Environment Programme headquarters in Nairobi; its regional office in Geneva; has overseen waste, resource management and pollution control programmes in Thailand, Vietnam and Egypt; and spent 10 years with the Danish EPA.
