IEEM Professional Ethics Masterclasses

IEEM Logo

IEEM is pleased to announce a new series of Masterclasses for 2012 to delve into the complex subject of Professional Ethics.

Exploring the idea of professionalism in depth allows us to understand the issues that are specific to ecology and environmental management. This is particularly important for a sector that can struggle with external perceptions of its professionalism. A better understanding of ethical principles and values also facilitates more effective decision-making, and relevant case studies will be used throughout the masterclass to demonstrate this practical approach to ethics. IEEM’s Code of Professional Conduct will be used as a basis for many of the discussions, but attendees are also invited to bring along their own case studies for discussion. These Masterclasses will be held on 3 April 2012 in London and on 17 October 2012 in Birmingham.

The IEEM Masterclasses series started in 2011 with courses on Protected Species: How Local Planning Authorities Should Discharge Their Legal Duties and European Protected Species: Legal Training Seminar for Commercial Ecological Consultants, both of which are also being held in 2012.
