CEnv Profile for Lauren Bovingdon CEnv | #IAmCEnv

Lauren Bovingdon CEnv

Lauren took an unconventional route into the Environment and their practices. Having started in the Construction industry at a Mechanical and Electrical contractor doing administration in an apprenticeship.

Lauren’s Background

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, Lauren moved to Alfred Mcalpine at a London location, to further her knowledge within the industry, but a different sector within (facilities management and office refurbishment). Over the years, Lauren has continued to pursue the Industry and worked for Balfour Beatty within Civils and for Faithdean Plc, who do refurbishment works and fitout in London. Lauren worked within administration roles, to compliance, to auditing, finally seeing a gap in one of the Company’s processes surrounding the Environment. It was often looked as a nice to have, however not on par with Health & Safety. Lauren wanted to develop and implement procedures, and to have the Environment being considered as more than just a tick box exercise, encouraging legislation and regulations as minimum requirements. Striving to complete best practice, wherever possible.

During her time at the above-mentioned Companies, Lauren not only developed processes but chose to pursue IEMA and go from Associate (AIMEA) to Full Member and Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv MIEMA). She worked on creating case studies with certain sites, trialling and adapting methods of recording data, training staff on Environmental practise and incident logging, finally working on the greater Sustainability issues; like Net Zero, Climate Change, Sustainable Procurement and Responsible Sourcing, Resource Management and Sustainable practices.

Lauren also undertook her BREEAM assessor examinations and was soley responsible for data collection, site liaison and the delivery of all BREEAM schemes across the £80million turnover group.

Lauren’s Current Work

With her proven track record in the above (and nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry), Lauren is now working for a Local Housebuilder within the Southeast, Chartway Partnerships Group. Chartway Partnerships Group have aggressive growth plans for expansion in the next year. They are currently working with various Local Authorities as to planning requirements and Biodiversity Net Gain Targets, in line with the Environment Act revision and COP15 agenda. They are very passionate about making home for everyone, from every walk of life, no matter the circumstance.

In addition to assisting with the above, Lauren is currently working on calculating the Baseline Carbon Footprint for the Group, decarbonising the Business’ Activities, Practices and the Supply chain. She is writing up the Sustainability Strategy for the Board of Directors, looking into the Business’ energy and water efficiency, Responsible Sourcing and Climate Resilience and Adaption. Lauren is also working with the team to establish the ESG objectives, Environmental policies and measuring/monitoring targets set.

Lauren passionately believes that we all need to be the change that we wish to see in the world. She is currently in talks with several organisations on volunteering works and restoration projects and is looking to add these objectives to the Social Value Charity works for the Group. Lauren is delighted to be working with a Business and dedicated team, who believe that Innovation is their motivation, to be Sustainable means to make a difference everyday and that we really are stronger together.
